Q: What are the costs I can expect if my child participates in
kid’s soccer or youth soccer in the Valpo Soccer Club?
A: The Valpo Soccer Club offers two seasons: spring and fall. The registration
fee for our Northwest Indiana soccer club per season and per player
is $75, with a $15 late fee added if paid after the initial registration
deadline date.
Each player is required to buy and wear a Valpo Soccer Club uniform.
This youth soccer club uniform consists of a jersey, shorts, and socks.
The cost for the soccer club uniform is $55 (a one-time fee). Each player
is also required to wear soccer cleats (an additional cost borne by each
player).
Another cost associated with playing on our
Indiana soccer league is travel expense associated with transport
to neighboring communities for game play. This includes both vehicle
expense and fuel expense. On average, approximately half of each
season’s Indiana youth soccer league games are played
home, while half are played away. This cost can be minimized
by carpooling. |

Q: How do I register my youngster for kid’s soccer or youth
soccer with the Valpo Soccer Club?
A: Valpo Soccer Club provides several ways to register for kid’s soccer
and youth soccer with our Northwest Indiana soccer club.
These events are announced well in advance in local newspapers
and on our web site. At these events, we will have printed registration
forms available and be ready to accept cash or check for fees due.
Please remember to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate
and two small photos with you so you won't have to mail these items
later.

soccer for Valpo Soccer Club last fall. What do I need to register

soccer club last fall, all you need to provide for spring registration
is the completed registration form and a check for our Indiana youth
soccer league registration fees.

Q: Do I need to get a new Valpo Soccer Club uniform each season?
A: No you do not. You will only need to purchase a new uniform for
our Indiana youth soccer league if:
- The uniform no longer fits
- The uniform is tattered and has seen better days
 |
Valpo Soccer Club makes every attempt to not change our
youth soccer league uniform styles. We will only change our kids and
youth soccer league uniform styles if we can no longer get the current
style (such as when the manufacturer discontinues the style). In this
case, we will allow a grace period of a couple seasons where the old
style and the new style are both in play. After a couple seasons, our
youth soccer league expects all kids soccer and youth soccer players
to wear the same uniform.
In the event you need a new uniform for our
Northwest Indiana soccer club, every attempt will be made
to see that your child receives the same player number. |
To best accomplish this, Valpo Soccer Club
asks that you include your child’s current uniform number on the registration
form in the space provided.

club uniforms and uniform policies, click here to contact us.

Q: How do I know that my child is ready for travel soccer in your
Northwest Indiana soccer club? Should I remain in the Parks League
another season?
A: Each child is different, and skill level isn’t the only basis
for judging whether a traveling youth soccer team is right for your child.
Skill level is obviously an important factor. The additional
skill challenges of playing good teams from other towns, as well as the
additional physical challenges that our youth soccer league coaches and
trainers provide through regular conditioning and training, pose additional
hurdles for your child.
Additionally, our youth soccer league teams
are smaller and
participate in small-side games so that, on an age-specific basis, fewer
players are on the field at any one time, requiring greater effort and
individual participation by each youth soccer league player.
On average, our youth soccer league players will touch the ball many
more times during practices and games than players in the Parks League
system or other in-house soccer programs. As a result, there are
more physical demands on our youth soccer league players than would be
expected in the Parks League kid’s soccer program.
Our Northwest Indiana soccer club also expects
more from their youth soccer and kid’s
soccer coaches and trainers. For example, Valpo
Soccer Club coaches are expected to obtain at least an E-license
coaching certification and attend training sessions. |
 |
Another important aspect of our youth soccer league is that the
teams largely stay together over a period of years. This helps
to build a sense of a team and camaraderie among teammates, as
opposed to in-house teams that are almost entirely remixed each
season. This is an excellent
sportsmanship promoter because it places an emphasis on team before
self.
One also can’t overlook that the child may be ready for recreational
travel youth soccer, but travel could pose a strain on a family
who is already very busy, away on weekends, or otherwise finds it difficult
to travel an hour to a soccer game on a Sunday afternoon each spring and
fall. While
the travel (and its associated cost) is by far not as demanding
in comparison to playing on premier soccer teams, the time commitment to
our youth soccer league is certainly more than that in the Parks system.

Q: I would like to get involved and become a volunteer for your
Northwest Indiana soccer club. How do I go about becoming a kid’s
soccer or youth soccer volunteer?
Q: How much time is involved with volunteering for your Northwest
Indiana soccer club?
A: The time commitment related to volunteering for our
Indiana soccer league is entirely up to you and the tasks you take on. Obviously, coaching
a youth soccer team or assisting in coaching a kid’s soccer team is
something we can always use. This sort of volunteering would require
a few hours each week during normal soccer playing seasons. However,
volunteering to serve on our board can require several hours each week,
even during the off seasons. |

Q: What other type of help does the Valpo Soccer Club need?

of volunteer assistance!
From registration to field management to advertising and marketing, our
Indiana youth soccer league would appreciate volunteers in any of
these areas. We also periodically need assistance with smaller
focus groups to accomplish a specific task. Your commitment to

Q: When and where do kids soccer and youth soccer teams in the
Valpo Soccer Club practice and play?
 |
A: All teams in our Indiana youth
soccer league practice at various locations throughout Valparaiso,
based upon the convenience and preference of the coach and their
team. Common practice locations include city parks such as Valplayso, Kirchoff,
and Forest
Park, as well as public schools including TJ
Middle School, Memorial, Northview, Cooks
Corner, Flint
Lake and Hayes
Leonard. For additional information
and maps on our home-field kids soccer and youth soccer playing locations,
Coaches will notify their players as to where they will hold practices,
as well as when practices will be held. |
Practices are typically held twice
a week on weekday afternoons and evenings. Our kids soccer and youth
soccer coaches also provide weekly training sessions with a professional
soccer trainer. Training sessions are typically held at Westside Park,
with dates and times scheduled by the individual trainer.
The teams in our Northwest Indiana soccer club compete with teams
from other clubs throughout the Northwest
Indiana Soccer League (NWISL),
with clubs from as far east as LaPorte and Michigan City
(Indiana), as far west as Crete and Lansing (Illinois), as far
south as DeMotte (Indiana), and as far north as Hessville (Indiana).
